It is created by Scooter Carlyle of Billings, Montana. She grew up on a large family farm and ranch in eastern Montana. She now teaches K-6 Music at a rural school and holds B.A. degrees in Music Education, Sociology/Anthropology, and an M.A. in Fine Arts. She loves fiction that breaks the canonical and sucks readers in like a bird into a Shop Vac. She has written choral music, a play, and two novels. Her current novel, The Rider of Nealra, is the first in the "Crooked Smile Woman" series Susan Bliler; born in Great Falls, Montana, to a mother of Native American ancestry and a father of Scots descent. She attended school in Great Falls and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Pre-Law from the University of Great Falls. Her first book is Territory, and her highly anticipated Sins of the Skin Walkers series is set to debut book one, Sins of the Skin Walkers: Monroe, in early 2012. Carol Buchanan; Flathead/Kalispell area, Before she could write, she would tell herself stories. Later as a teenager she wrote for the local Kalispell newspaper, The Daily Interlake. Since then she has written for newspapers and national magazines in the fields of Western history, horticulture, and equine journalism. She even wrote technical manuals about computer systems for a major aerospace company in Seattle, WA. Her first historical novel, God's Thunderbolt: The Vigilantes of Montana won the 2009 Spur Award for Best First Novel from the Western Writers of America. Her second historical novel, Gold Under Ice (the sequel to God's Thunderbolt), has been published to glowing reviews. Her site has far more to it then the usual biography and book information. Diana Pharaoh Francis; fantasy writer; She was raised on a cattle ranch in Northern California where she taught herself to ride a horse at the age of six. She has a Ph.D. in Victorian literature and currently teaches literature and writing at the University of Montana-Western. She lives in Montana with her husband, son and an oversized lapdog. The recipient of many academic and musical awards, he has composed 114 major works, including operas, concerti, string quartets, large and small choral works and chamber works. He also serves as artistic director and host for Montana PBS-TV "11th & Grant with Eric Funk," the Emmy Award winning showcase for Montana musicians. He was music director and conductor of the Helena Symphony Orchestra and the co-founder and conductor of the Gallatin Chamber Orchestra in Bozeman, Montana. Edward Louis Henry; Bozeman, Montana. He has been a working cowhand, saddle bronc rodeo contestant and Wild West performer, WWII infantry sergeant, newspaper reporter, U.S. Foreign Service officer and executive speechwriter, plus has spent thirty years in advertising. A lifelong horseman and outdoorsman, Henry is active in mountain man rendezvous where he is known by his mountain man moniker, Poredevil. Western history is his abiding passion. M K McClintock; McClintock was born in California, but found a place to call home in Montana. Her first novel, Gallagher's Pride, was the first in an historical series about a ranching family in Montana. Over the years McClintock traveled the country and visited magnificent Scotland. She dreams of a time when life was simpler, the land rougher and the journey more rewarding. With her heart deeply rooted in the past and her mind always on adventure, McClintock still calls Montana home. Frank Seitz; Bozeman, Montana. He is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist for 36 years and former Catholic Seminarian, has written two dozen professional articles and three books about the challenges within the human psyche. He has counseled numerous clergy in their crises of intimacy. His first novel, The Collar, followed Father Christopher Joyce's tortured relationship between his responsibilities as a priest and his undeniable love for one of his parishioners. That novel led to a musical collaboration with composer Eric Funk and the creation of The Collar: A Musical; a dramatic musical adaptation of the novel. Jeremy Soldevilla; Bozeman, Montana. After a career as a Boston publisher, Jeremy Soldevilla moved to Montana with his wife, Melissa and their two dogs. They owned and operated a bed and breakfast in Bozeman, where between making beds and breakfasts, skiing and fishing, he began writing novels. Thief Creek is the first of those novels. Much of the inspiration for his books comes from his travels throughout Montana. Check out his first book, Thief Creek. He also has a book publishing company.
Richard Ward; Raised in Bozeman. Montana State graduate. He received a PhD degree in biochemistry from the University of California in Berkeley and became a Member of the Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque. He served as a Virology Section Chief at the Environmental Protection Agency in Cincinnati, and later joined the Gamble Institute of Medical Research in Cincinnati where he eventually became the Director of Clinical Virology. He joined Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center as a Professor of Pediatrics. He is the author of nearly 200 scientific publications on viral biology and immunology.
